Rodgers Gives His Take On Cutler Drama

Aaron Rodgers isn't a fan of Bears Offensive Coordinator Aaron Kromer's recent criticism of Jay Cutler.

He said so Tuesday at Lambeau Field. Here's his full quote, courtesy of NFL.com's Michael Silver.

"I would have a major problem if somebody said something like that. I think anybody that plays the position, you can't help but empathize with Jay for that situation. You talk all the time about being connected, being a unit, believing in each other. But if you have unnamed sources, people out there cutting you down, and then you find out it's the person calling the plays -- that would be really hard to deal with, to look at him the same way."

Bears/Packers Final Prediction

My prediction for tomorrow's Bears/Packers game:

Score: Packers 38, Bears 14

I see this contest going the same way as the Panthers one did a few weeks ago. The Packers will get off to a quick start, pull away early, and then put Matt Flynn in for the fourth the quarter. In the end, the Bears will get a little closer due to Aaron Rodgers' abscence, but still, they'll lose by a lot.

Why?

Because the Packers are simply the better team here. In recent weeks, Jay Cutler has really struggled, while Rodgers, with the exception of the Saints' game, has excelled. I think we can all agree that makes for an obvious advantage for the home team.

Shields: New Contract "Just the Beginning"

Following the signing of his new 4-year, $39 million contract this offseason, it has been speculated by some that Packers CB Sam Shields will change.

He apparently doesn't think so.

"Like I tell everybody, it's just the beginning," Shields recently told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Lori Nickel. "I'm going to continue to work my butt off and make plays. Hopefully down the line, get another one, you know? This is just the beginning."

On the final play of last year's Week 17 win in Chicago, Shields picked off a Jay Cutler Hail Mary, officially clinching the Packers a playoff spot. It wasn't necessarily a difficult play to make, although it definitely illustrated the veteran's ability to perform in the clutch, something needed on a contending team.

Bears sign Cutler to 7-year extension

Well, the title says it. The Bears, despite just suffering another late-season collapse, have signed their inconsistent starting QB Jay Cutler to a 7-year extension that will keep him in Chicago through 2020. The Bears have made the playoffs just once since Cutler joined them in 2009. 

Now if I'm a Bears fan, I'm scratching my head at this. In recent years, Chicago has struggled mightily under Cutler, and even when they were good in 2010, they still weren't Super Bowl good. So I can't understand why they're keeping him. He may win a division, but he'll never win a title.
