Former Packers LB Bishop Signs With Cardinals

Former Packers LB Desmond Bishop has signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals, Pro Football Talk reports.

From 2007-2012, as you probably remember, Bishop was a constant contributor to Green Bay's defense, even starting for them in 2010 and 2011.

However, during the 2012 preseason opener Bishop sustained a severe hamstring injury, ending his year and eventually leading to his release the following offseason.

Since then, unfortunately, things haven't really gotten any better for the former Super Bowl Champion, definitely making this piece of news likable, as it gives a deserving veteran another chance to help out a playoff contender.

Rodgers Thinks Packers Are Better With Finley

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers thinks the team is better with Jermichael Finley, he recently told Green Bay's WBAY-TV. 

In the quote, published today by Cheesehead TV, Rodgers opines that the Pack "are better with Jermichael on it," immediately after also saying that #88 improves the NFL.

Rodgers and Finley, two Super Bowl XLV champions who have spent their entire careers with the Packers, have been teammates since 2008, when Finley first joined the club as a rookie out of Texas.

Since then, the duo has helped the organization put together a 61-34-1 record, something that'll probably make them want to stay together, as consistently winning is a feat most guys only dream of achieving.

Finley Claims He Doesn't Care About the Money in Recent Q&A

To some people following his situation, why Free Agent TE Jermichael Finley may want to keep playing instead of just collecting a $10 million insurance policy is confusing.

Finley, a 27-year-old who's currently recovering from the neck injury he suffered last season, could retire now and get paid a lot, yet for some reason is still considering continuing to work.

Well, in a Q&A with USA Today earlier this week, that reason was finally revealed, with #88 claiming that it "ain't about the money."

In recent years, Finley has made $8.25 million annually with the Packers, so yes, I'd imagine he's telling the truth here, as the policy he's been offered probably isn't all that amazing for someone of his income level.

Finley to Undergo More Medical Tests; Will Send Results to All 32 Teams

Free Agent TE Jermichael Finley will undergo more medical tests tomorrow and send the results to all 32 teams, USA Today's Tom Pelissaro reports. 

According to Pelissaro, Finley is looking to lock up a roster spot before training camp, something that'll probably make additional clubs interested. 

Currently, the longtime Packer is recovering from a severe neck injury he suffered last season, the reason why he might just end up taking a $10 million insurance policy this fall instead. 

Either way, this news is definitely worth our attention, as positive exams here could really help out Finley's financial state in the near future. 

Finley Working Hard to Return to Packer Nation

So far this offseason, Jermichael Finley hasn't done much.

The longtime Packers Tight End, currently a free agent after undergoing spinal surgery, was medically cleared by his personal doctor and talked to by the Patriots last month, the last action he really saw.

Still, Finley's apparently pretty confident about his future right now, telling ESPN Wisconsin's Jason Wilde earlier today that he's "working hard to return to Packer Nation."

Now obviously, that quote doesn't prove anything, although it's definitely interesting to notice that it implies a wanting to come back to Green Bay, an idea previously considered dead by some.

Chiefs Could Become Interested in Free Agent DE Jolly

The Chiefs could soon become interested in Free Agent Defensive End Johnny Jolly, Arrowhead Pride's Matt Conner recently wrote.

Jolly, who said a few days ago that he's been medically cleared and is just waiting for somebody to contact him, played for the Packers last season, the first time he had done so since 2009 due to suspension. 

Overall, #97 has been with the Pack for five years, possibly helping him build up a relationship with former team Director of College Scouting John Dorsey, Kansas City's current General Manager who was with Green Bay when Jolly was drafted in 2006.

Finley Receives Medical Clearance From Personal Doctor

Free Agent TE Jermichael Finley, coming off a meeting with the Packers yesterday, has received medical clearance from his personal doctor in an unrelated event, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports. 

Dr. James Maroon, who performed surgery on Finley's spine earlier this offseason, is the one who gave #88 the ok, according to his agent.

Still, this doesn't mean much to what will happen to Finley in the future, as team doctors are the ones who ultimately make the call.

Finley, who will have another meeting with an unknown team tomorrow, has yet to be cleared by anyone this offseason, so in the end, this is a step in the right direction for him, regardless of what it actually becomes.

Finley to Meet With Packers' Doctors Today

Free Agent TE Jermichael Finley will meet with Packers team doctors today regarding the current state of his neck injury, ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky reports.

Lately, Finley has sent out multiple tweets about his rehab, possibly the reason for this happening.

Still, according to Demovsky, nothing about this implies that the veteran is close to getting a contract, much less being cleared to play.

Finley, who has spent each of his six NFL seasons with the Packers, suffered the severe injury Week 7 of last year, a game Green Bay won over the Browns, 31-13.

Since then, #88 has come and gone out of the public's eye, reaching an agreement on a one-year deal with the Seahawks earlier this offseason.

However, that contract quickly fell apart after Finley failed his physical, causing him to wait for this moment now, his chance to show the Packers how his health has improved. 

Overall, the odds of this meeting turning out positive for both sides seem unlikely, although, in my opinion, it's still definitely something worth our attention. 

Yes, the injury is serious, but that doesn't mean that Finley recovering from it's impossible. Sooner or later, I'd imagine he'll be back on the field, with or without medical clearance from today.

Packers Free Agency: Matt Flynn to make over $1 million this season

The details of Matt Flynn's new one-year deal with the Packers have been released, and really, they come with no surprises. Apparently Flynn, who went 2-2 in 4 starts last season, will make just $730,000 in base salary this year, including a $75k signing bonus, a $25k workout bonus, and a per game active roster bonus of up to $138,125.

So yea, it certainly looks like the Pack got a good deal done with this guy. He's a solid backup, (either that or he just seems better since his alternative is Scott Tolzein) but here, as with every case of free agency, you gotta make sure not to overpay too much, especially in a league with a salary cap. 

Packers finally re-sign Matt Flynn

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers have finally re-signed Free Agent QB Matt Flynn. Last season, Flynn was the only decent backup the Pack had, going 2-2 in 4 starts with two one-point wins over the Falcons and Cowboys. 

Now overall, I wouldn't say Flynn's a great player, but still, in the end he does fit well in Green Bay. I mean, I still don't want him to have to play in a meaningful situation this season, but if Rodgers goes down I guess I'd rather him come in than Tolzein. That's not saying much, but hey, it's a fact, isn't it? Right now, whether we like it or not, Flynn's the lesser evil, so I guess the team might as well keep him on the roster for another year. 

Dolphins to target Finley if he's given medical clearance

The Dolphins will target Injured Free Agent Tight End Jermichael Finley if he's given medical clearance, the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports. This probably won't happen, as Finley's neck being healed right now is an almost definite no, but still, it's certainly something to think about. 

Anyway, the team's pursuing of Finley wouldn't be aggressive by any means, as it would apparently only come with "low-dollars, low-risk" contact offers, but again, this is something to think about. Another team is kinda interested in the former Packer, meaning that he's obviously still got some stuff left to offer in their eyes.

Finley to get an MRI next week

Injured Free Agent Tight End Jermichael Finley will get an MRI on his neck next week, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports. The results of the procedure, which will be done by Dr. Joseph Maroon of the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be given to interested teams, the Packers included. 

So yea, I guess we have another thing to wait for here. Finley's been hurt all offseason, but if he's showing enough progress to be given another test then I guess something good must be happening with him. Who knows? Maybe he's almost completely healed. It's unlikely, but it could still happen, couldn't it?

Packers still showing interest in bringing back Finley

The Packers are "absolutely" still interested in bringing back injured Tight End Jermichael Finley, Team Head Coach Mike McCarthy recently told Sports World Report. Last week, Finley failed a physical with the conference-rival Giants, already the second time that's happened this offseason. 

Now despite that, I'm still 100% for bringing this guy back on a multi-year deal. Yea, he might not play at all this season, but I'm still convinced that he's got a lot left to offer. At age 27, he's still relatively young, and, as we all know, can really help out a team when healthy and focused.

Packers target Daniels signs with Ravens

According to NFL.com, Former Texans Tight End Owen Daniels, who's been contact with the Packers throughout this offseason, (going as far as to meet with them early last month) has signed a one-year deal with the Ravens. Last year, Daniels' eighth with Houston, the veteran wasn't too great, catching just 24 passes for 252 yards, but still, acquiring him would've been pretty cool. 

Anyway, in reality this news shouldn't affect the Pack too much, as they've already re-signed longtime backup Andrew Quarless, so yea, let's not get too stressed about it. It's actually not that big of a deal. 

Kuhn re-signs with Packers for 1 year, more than $1 million

Free Agent FB John Kuhn has finally re-signed with the Packers, NFL.com's Dan Hanzus reports. As of now, the deal, which was made yesterday afternoon, is believed to be worth just 1 year, while also surprisingly paying more than $1 million. 

So yea, I guess this offseason is officially good now. The Packers have already improved their defense and running game with the signings of Defensive End Julius Peppers and backup Running Back James Starks, and now, well, they have arguably the league's most loved fullback back for at least one more season. Let's hope it's a good one. 

Details of C.J. Wilson's contract released

The details of former Packers Defensive Lineman C.J. Wilson's new one-year contract with the Raiders have been released, and unsurprisingly, the deal isn't worth that much money. Apparently Wilson, who's played for the Pack since he was a rookie in 2010, committing 76 tackles and 3.5 sacks, will make just $795,000 in base salary this season, while also collecting $65k as a signing bonus. 

So yea, it appears #98 is getting what he deserves here. He's been unproductive up to this point in his career, so now, well, he gets payed next to nothing (at least by NFL standards).

Report: Decision on Kuhn's future could come this week

According to Packers News, the decision on Free Agent FB John Kuhn's future could come this week. Kuhn, who has played each of the last 7 seasons in Green Bay, is reportedly receiving interest from multiple teams, so yea, this news does not necessarily mean that he's definitely going to wear Green and Gold this fall.

Still, I'd say that that possibility is probably the most likely. I mean, Kuhn loves the Packers and, not to mention, everything's cheaper in Northern Wisconsin, so it's not like a pay cut this year would be the end of the world for this guy.

Allen: "Just watch me play this year"

During his introductory news conference yesterday, recently-signed Bears DE Jared Allen expressed a lot of confidence going into the upcoming season.

"Just watch me play this year," Allen said. "I'm a full year off surgery on my shoulder. I want to believe in what I'm playing for and who I'm playing for, and that's why I'm here. I believe in the product they're putting on the field."

While I'm curious to see how this guy will do this fall, I'm still not convinced he'll make the Bears a legitimate threat in the NFC North. I mean, when your offense is terrible your defensive skills are pretty irrelevant, right?

Finley failed Seahawks physical

According to the Packers Official Site, Free Agent Tight End Jermichael Finley (neck) failed the recent physical he took with the Seahawks. This news isn't surprising, as we all already know that Finley left the team without a deal and still hasn't been cleared by anyone to play, but still, it did happen and I guess it's kind of interesting to know about. 

Anyway, the article goes on to state that it's unknown whether or not the 'Hawks will bring #88 back for a re-check, so yea, I guess this whole thing isn't quite over yet. It's getting there, though.

Peppers to have "multiple roles" in 2014 defense

Recently-signed Defensive End Julius Peppers will have "multiple roles" in the Packers 2014 defense, ESPN Wisconsin's Jason Wilde reports. Apparently, Peppers will practice with the team's LineBackers this season, yet will play more positions than just that. 

So yea, it's starting to look like the ex-Bear won't be the same kinda player this year as he's been in the past. I guess that'll be a little strange at first, but as he long as he contributes his fair share (he'll probably have to do more than just that) I could care less where exactly he's standing on the defensive line.
