Packers Bishop believes he's "capable" of winning defensive MVP

Around the time of the draft, the Packers were actively shopping their starting linebacker, Desmond Bishop. But now that he's still in Green Bay, the man who got hurt in last year's first preseason game has inflated his ego. Saying that he is "capable" of winning the defensive MVP Award in 2013.

"Seriously," he said. "Why not? I know I'm capable."

While Bishop is overall pretty good, I don't think he's that good. He might have a good season, but he won't be an All-Pro type of guy. But on the bright side, at least he seems healthy. That can't be bad.

I thought it was interesting that Bishop made his comments almost a year from the day last year when former safety Charlie Peprah said he was going to have a Pro Bowl season in 2012. Peprah was released over the summer and played at less than a Pro Bowl level in 5 games for the Cowboys. He's currently a free agent.

Also, Tyler Dunne mentioned an NFL.com report that said the Packers were shopping Bishop. Assuming his rehab is going well, his NFL career shouldn't be over, but I have a hard time imagining him staying with the Packers in any capacity after they re-negotiated Hawk's contract and re-signed Jones.
