Another Injury? Jordy Nelson Has Knee Surgery

What a bad week this has been for the Green Bay Packers. Jason Wilde reported that WR Jordy Nelson will have surgery "to correct a nerve issue" that's been bothering him on-and-off since college. It sounds serious, but the recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks. I guess it's better to do have the surgery now instead of waiting until mid-season. That means more playing time for some of the rookie wide receivers on the roster.

As an added bonus of suck: WR Randall Cobb left practice early due to a biceps injury.

That sucks. Now that week 1 game in San Francisco looks even more unwinnable

Wow.

"Now that week 1 game in San Francisco looks even more unwinnable."

Ever the optimist, I just can't see it that way.

For one thing, Nelson COULD return in time to play in the opener.

For another, who says that the Niners are going to rack up the un-overcomable points, anyway?
Did you know that the Packers defensive coaches, among most of the others around the NFL, literally went to school this summer

to learn how to defense the read-option?

I think that the game is still VERY winnable. :)

I don't know North Starr. Even if the Packers defense has improved over the offfseason, I still think they are a long way from beating the Niners, especially on the road. Now they could win the game, but I wouldn't bet on it. I expect the game to be similar to last year's divisional playoff.
